10de Biënnale van de Schilderkunst
from 28 Jun 2026 to 18 Oct 2026
in Roger Raveel Museum, Machelen-aan-de-Leie, Belgium.

This summer, Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, Roger Raveel Museum and mudel are marking a special milestone: the tenth edition of the Biennial of Painting.
The exhibition at the Roger Raveel Museum begins with the act of looking itself: painting appears as a dynamic interplay of language, texture, scale, and spatiality. The pictorial gesture becomes one element within a broader conceptual field. Nine artist rooms function as spaces for thought, where presence and absence, surface and architecture, object and image continuously shift. Some artists start from drawing or writing, others from spatial interventions or hybrid forms that stretch the boundaries of painting. In doing so, the medium is revealed as an open, evolving visual language in which past and present mutually reinforce one another.
The 10th Biennial of Painting marks both a milestone and a new beginning for the Roger Raveel Museum. After a closure of one and a half years, the museum reopens in a refreshed building with significantly improved conditions for presentation and conservation. More than ever, the museum aims to be a place where visitors encounter each other and art, and feel encouraged to look more slowly and attentively.
